A tragic incident occurred in Hưng Yên, Vietnam, where a man died after a physical altercation with his father-in-law. The event unfolded on the evening of August 15, 2026, at the home of Trần Văn P., aged 59, following a family dispute that led to tensions between the two men.
According to the police investigation, the conflict arose when Bùi Văn Dũng, 40, visited his father-in-law's home to drop off his daughter after a family meal. During their conversation, a disagreement escalated into a heated argument. In a moment of anger, Trần Văn P. struck Dũng with a sandal. In retaliation, Dũng hit his father-in-law, causing P. to fall and hit his head on the tiled floor, rendering him unconscious.
Emergency services were called, and P. was rushed to Tiền Hải General Hospital before being transferred to Thái Bình General Hospital due to the severity of his injuries. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries the following morning, around 8:20 AM on August 16.
In light of the incident, the Hưng Yên Provincial Police have initiated an investigation, formally charging Bùi Văn Dũng with "intentional infliction of injury" under Article 134, Clause 4 of the Penal Code. The investigation aims to clarify the circumstances surrounding the altercation and determine the responsibilities of those involved.
This case has drawn attention to the issues of domestic violence and family disputes in Vietnam, highlighting the need for awareness and preventive measures to address such conflicts before they escalate into violence.
