Vietnam's Private Sector Breaks Tax Contribution Record

In a historic achievement, a private company in Vietnam has become the first to contribute more than 100 trillion VND to the national budget in one year. This milestone was highlighted in the recently released PRIVATE 100 list for 2026, which ranks the top 100 private enterprises based on their tax contributions for the fiscal year 2025.

The total tax contributions from these 100 companies reached approximately 390.7 trillion VND, marking a significant increase of about 60% or 146.3 trillion VND compared to the previous year. Notably, this amount represents 14.7% of the total national budget revenue for 2025, underscoring the vital role that the private sector plays in fueling Vietnam's economy.

Leading the list is Vingroup, which contributed an impressive 148.773 trillion VND, a substantial rise from 56.2 trillion VND the previous year. This is also the first time a private enterprise in Vietnam has reported a tax contribution exceeding 100 trillion VND in a single year. Following Vingroup are Sunshine Group with 24.045 trillion VND, THACO with 21.158 trillion VND, NH Smart City with 13.171 trillion VND, and Hoa Phat with 12.954 trillion VND.

The top ten companies on the list collectively contributed around 268 trillion VND, an increase of 80% compared to the previous year. To qualify for the top ten this year, a company needed to contribute at least 5.8 trillion VND, which is over 1 trillion VND more than last year.

In terms of sectors, finance, real estate, and automotive industries were the largest contributors to the national budget. Notably, 17 banks featured in the top 100, contributing over 52 trillion VND, accounting for approximately 13% of the total contributions. The automotive sector ranked third with nearly 40 trillion VND in contributions.

Beyond direct contributions to the budget, large enterprises, especially in real estate, manufacturing, automotive, and infrastructure, have a ripple effect on various sectors within the supply chain, thereby promoting production, business activities, and job creation.

The PRIVATE 100 list is part of the VNTAX system, which ranks Vietnam's largest taxpayers. The rankings are based on the actual tax payments made by companies in the fiscal year 2025.
