TikToker Phạm Tuấn Charged with Illegal Use of Computer Networks

TikToker Phạm Tuấn, a 25-year-old from Bắc Ninh province, has gained notoriety for his content aimed at teaching youth how to make money through various social media platforms. On August 22, he was charged by the Hanoi Police for allegedly using computer networks and telecommunications unlawfully, according to Article 288 of the Penal Code.

Phạm Tuấn, who operates a company called Phạm Tuấn Entertainment, has a substantial online following, boasting over 2.6 million followers on TikTok, more than 340,000 on Facebook, and over 1 million subscribers on YouTube. His content, however, has drawn criticism for its portrayal of gang culture and violence.

Authorities have reported that Tuấn and his associates used the YouTube channel Phạm Tuấn Entertainment to regularly post videos depicting gang-related activities, school violence, and the use of weapons to resolve conflicts. One of his videos, titled "The End of the Road 3 - Unmasking," released in 2020, has attracted nearly 3 million views and thousands of comments, leading to negative influences on young viewers.

Furthermore, Tuấn's group reportedly misused images of a high school in Bắc Ninh, associating it with violent content, which harmed the school's reputation. Initial investigations indicate that their activities generated hundreds of millions of VND in profit.

This incident is part of a broader trend, as several TikTokers and online personalities have recently faced legal issues for various offenses, including individuals like Huấn Hoa Hồng, Phú Lê, Vua Quạt, Khánh Sky, and Hồ Văn Khoa.
