On August 5, 2026, the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department announced the indictment of singer Phuong Diem Huyen (real name Nguyen Thi Hien) and Nguyen Thanh Hiep, the director of Unicorn Media, for the unauthorized posting of numerous musical works for illegal profit.

The investigation revealed that Nguyen Thi Hien had collaborated with BH Media to manage her YouTube channel, which boasts a large following of hundreds of thousands of subscribers and specializes in posting bolero and sentimental music videos. Over an extended period, Phuong Diem Huyen allegedly used and uploaded many musical works to her personal YouTube channel without obtaining permission or paying royalties to the authors. Notably, many of her videos have garnered millions of views.

This serious copyright infringement has reportedly caused damages amounting to hundreds of millions of VND for the authors while allowing the accused to earn hundreds of millions of VND from social media platforms.

Nguyen Thanh Hiep, who manages the YouTube channel "liveshowunicorn2988" (also in collaboration with BH Media), has also been charged. This channel features nearly 1,000 videos and has attracted hundreds of millions of views. Since 2021, Hiep has illegally uploaded hundreds of musical works from authors affiliated with the Vietnam Music Copyright Protection Center (VCPMC) without paying the required royalties, including over 200 videos that violated copyright laws. This has led to damages exceeding 100 million VND in royalties, contributing to Hiep's substantial earnings from advertising revenue.

The indictment of these two individuals marks a continued effort by the Ho Chi Minh City Police to combat intellectual property violations in the digital space, demonstrating a firm commitment to protecting the legitimate rights of authors and businesses.
