Quy Nhơn has officially launched the International Lion, Dragon Festival and the Quy Nhơn - Gia Lai Street Festival, running from August 7 to 10, 2026. This vibrant celebration is part of the National Tourism Year 2026, hosted at Nguyen Tat Thanh Square, and features participants from various provinces in Vietnam as well as international teams from Malaysia, Thailand, China, and South Korea.

Nguyen Duc Toan, Chairman of the Quy Nhơn People's Committee, emphasized that Quy Nhơn is a region rich in natural beauty, history, and culture, representing a blend of tradition and modernity. The festival aims to effectively promote Quy Nhơn as a safe, friendly, and attractive destination, while also fostering cultural exchanges among domestic and international lion and dragon dance teams.

The festival includes a colorful street parade themed "Colors of the Great Forest, Rhythm of the Blue Sea - Gathering the Essence of Lion and Dragon" with over 400 performers and artists participating. It showcases various traditional cultural forms such as Bai Choi singing, Bình Định traditional martial arts, and Cham dances, combined with artistic carnivals and modern performances.

In addition to the performances, the festival features a cultural space dedicated to local cuisine, offering a variety of regional specialties and notable OCOP products. Following the opening ceremony, attendees were treated to an impressive flyboard display, enhanced by fireworks and light effects over the sea. Athletes performed acrobatic maneuvers while wearing LED-lit protective gear, creating a stunning visual spectacle.

A highlight of the event was the appearance of a drone designed to resemble a phoenix, equipped with yellow LED lights, which captured the attention of the audience as it soared above Quy Nhơn's skies. The International Lion and Dragon Festival and the Quy Nhơn - Gia Lai Street Festival are significant cultural and tourism activities contributing to the vibrant events of the National Tourism Year 2026.
