Lam Dong Urges Acceleration of Phan Thiet Airport Project

The Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee has called for increased efforts to expedite the construction of the Phan Thiet Airport, a significant infrastructure project in the region. On August 3, Deputy Secretary of the Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee, Dang Hong Sy, led a team to inspect the progress of the airport's construction, emphasizing the need for the investor to focus resources on the project and collaborate in overcoming procedural obstacles.

Currently, the project is in the foundational construction phase. Workers are engaged in land clearing, leveling, and building technical infrastructure. However, major components, such as the passenger terminal and air traffic control tower, are still in the early stages of construction, with piling work just beginning.

According to the investor, Sun Group's Phan Thiet Airport LLC, the contract for the project was signed on March 12, 2026, with a planned execution period of 21 months. The company has completed and submitted fire safety assessment documents and mobilized personnel and machinery for groundwork at the terminal site and control tower. They have also finished trial piling and are currently working on the main piling for the terminal and auxiliary structures.

During the site inspection, Deputy Secretary Dang Hong Sy acknowledged the efforts of the investor and construction units in advancing the project. He urged the investor to maximize resource allocation and accelerate construction progress while ensuring quality, safety, and environmental cleanliness. Additionally, he requested that local authorities continue to support the investor in resolving challenges, particularly concerning construction materials and necessary legal procedures.

The Phan Thiet Airport project, with an estimated investment of approximately 1.547 trillion VND, is designed to accommodate six aircraft on its runway and features a passenger terminal with a capacity of 2 million passengers per year, covering an area of about 16,000 to 18,000 square meters. The completion of this airport is expected to significantly enhance transportation infrastructure in the region.
