HCMC – The government of HCMC yesterday began work on the city’s section of Beltway No. 3 which connects HCMC and three neighboring provinces – Dong Nai, Binh Duong and Long An.

The road has a total length of 76.3km, with 47.35km in HCMC, 11.26km in Dong Nai, 10.76km in Binh Duong, and 6.81km in Long An.

Some 375 out of 410 hectares of land in HCMC has been cleared and handed over for the Beltway No. 3 project, meeting 86.97% of the requirement, reported the project management board.

The HCMC section has two components: road construction and compensation and resettlement of affected families. The construction component is scheduled to be completed and opened to traffic by 2025.

The city needs to claim the remaining land area by the end of this year to achieve 100% land clearance for the project’s second component.

Thu Duc City, which is under the jurisdiction of HCMC, has received 72 hectares of cleared land from 124 cases, with compensation totaling VND1,506 billion.

Cu Chi has taken back 54.7 hectares of land from 289 businesses and households, costing VND1,104 billion.

In Hoc Mon District, 315 households and businesses have delivered 94.3 hectares, and the district has spent over VND1,151 billion on site clearance compensation.

Binh Chanh has compensated for a 136-hectare land area claimed from 198 affected households and businesses, amounting to over VND413 billion.

Overall, out of the 1,678 cases affected by the Beltway No. 3 project in HCMC, 926 cases have handed over 357 hectares of land, and the city has spent over VND4,176 billion on site clearance compensation. The majority of the cleared land is farmland, accounting for 50.3%, while residential land makes up a small portion at 4.87%.

The HCMC Beltway No. 3 project consists of eight components, with each of the four localities responsible for two of them. The project, designed with eight lanes for vehicles, requires a total investment of VND75,378 billion. The entire route is expected to be completed by 2026.
