In a significant development, five students from Le Truc High School in Quang Tri have had their high school graduation exam results canceled due to confirmed cheating. This announcement was made by the Quang Tri Department of Education and Training on August 1, based on findings from the provincial security investigation agency.

The decision to annul the results affects all exam papers submitted by these students, one of whom is the child of the school's principal. The authorities are also awaiting guidance from the Ministry of Education and Training regarding another case related to this incident.

In addition to the students, two teachers from Le Truc High School, Tran Duc Luc, the head of the Mathematics department, and Doan Thi Thanh Binh, the head of the Literature department, have been prosecuted for abusing their positions during the examination process. The investigation revealed that Mr. Luc, who served as the deputy head of the examination site, and Ms. Binh, the secretary of the examination site, were directly involved in the cheating scandal along with nine other students.

The cheating allegations first surfaced on social media on July 9, when messages purportedly from a student at the Le Truc examination site accused the proctors of providing answers and guidance during the exam. In response, Quang Tri province established a special task force to review the examination procedures and results at this site.

The high school graduation exam for 2026 is scheduled to take place on June 11-12, with over 1.2 million students expected to participate. Following the announcement of results on July 1, concerns arose regarding the unusually high scores at specialized schools, prompting the Ministry of Education and Training to call for a comprehensive review of examination results across all provinces.
