The stock market is increasingly reliant on information technology, making cybersecurity a critical component for its operations. On July 22, 2026, the State Securities Commission (SSC) of Vietnam, in collaboration with the Cybersecurity Department and the High-Tech Crime Prevention Department (A05) of the Ministry of Public Security, organized a conference aimed at enhancing cybersecurity measures for entities within the stock market.
This conference served as a platform for government regulators, cybersecurity experts, and market participants to discuss the risks of cyberattacks targeting information systems in the securities sector. Participants exchanged ideas on coordination mechanisms and information sharing to facilitate early warnings, detection, and response to cybersecurity incidents in accordance with legal regulations.
During the opening remarks, SSC Deputy Chairman Ha Duy Tung expressed gratitude to the Cybersecurity Department for their ongoing support and collaboration, which has significantly contributed to ensuring the safety and security of market operations. He highlighted that the strategy for the development of the stock market by 2030 emphasizes the importance of creating a stable, secure, and sustainable market, with a focus on enhancing operational efficiency and modernizing infrastructure.
Deputy Chairman Tung noted that the stock market is one of the sectors heavily utilizing information technology for various activities, including trading, registration, custody, payment, and information disclosure. Thus, ensuring cybersecurity for these information systems is vital for implementing the 2030 development strategy, aligning with national cybersecurity policies.
Colonel Nguyen Hong Quan, Deputy Director of the Cybersecurity Department, reassured that A05 is prepared to collaborate with the SSC and other entities in the securities sector to ensure cybersecurity. He acknowledged the importance of the conference, especially amid the rapid digital transformation that presents new challenges for cybersecurity.
As the stock market continues to expand, it increasingly depends on data and connectivity among systems. Therefore, maintaining cybersecurity is essential for protecting the legal rights and interests of investors. During the conference, A05 representatives presented topics on the Cybersecurity Law and the Personal Data Protection Law of 2025, discussing methods and tactics of cyberattacks, indicators of such attacks, and notable incidents.
Additionally, the conference included discussions from the SSC's Technology and Digital Transformation Committee and representatives from various securities firms, focusing on practical implementations of cybersecurity measures, challenges faced, and proposals for enhancing cybersecurity effectiveness in the securities sector.
In closing remarks, Deputy Chairman Tung reiterated that as the securities sector undergoes digital transformation, the risks of cyberattacks on finance and securities are growing in both scale and sophistication. He emphasized the need for continued cooperation with the Cybersecurity Department to ensure the safety and security of the stock market.
The SSC also urged market participants to improve cybersecurity solutions, including system upgrades, procedural reviews, and staff training, while promoting awareness among investors regarding the protection of personal information and data in cyberspace.
