A devastating workplace accident occurred at the Dabaco pig farm in Thach Quang, Thanh Hoa, resulting in the deaths of five individuals and injuries to two others. The incident took place on July 18, when a worker was electrocuted while repairing electrical equipment in the company's waste filtration area. In an attempt to rescue him, several other workers also suffered from gas inhalation.

Following the accident, Cao Van Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Thanh Hoa People's Committee, visited the site to oversee the investigation into the causes of the incident. He emphasized the need for a thorough examination of the farm's operations, including construction practices and adherence to environmental regulations.

Authorities are also ensuring that safety measures are strictly followed to protect workers at the site, especially those involved in the investigation and recovery efforts. Personal protective equipment, including gas masks, is being mandated for personnel working in hazardous areas.

In response to the incident, the local Department of Agriculture and Environment is collaborating with the company to disinfect the pig farm, which houses approximately 150,000 pigs. The company has been instructed to assess the market readiness of the pigs for sale to ensure swift action is taken following the accident.

Additionally, the local government has expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and is providing support to those affected by the tragedy. The Dabaco pig farm, which is part of the Dabaco Vietnam Group, has been operational since October 2022 and represents a significant investment in the local agricultural sector.

As investigations continue, the Thanh Hoa police have cordoned off the accident site to gather evidence and determine the exact circumstances leading to this unfortunate event.
