AI Cameras in Hanoi Record 130 Red Light Violations
In a recent 24-hour period, AI cameras operated by the Traffic Police Department in Hanoi detected 130

The Traffic Police Department of Vietnam reported that from June 26 to June 27, 2026, their AI camera system captured 34 violations of red lights in Hanoi. This data was collected during a 24-hour monitoring period, demonstrating the effectiveness of technology in enforcing traffic laws.
During this time frame, the AI cameras monitored traffic on various roads, including the Nội Bài - Lào Cai expressway, where they recorded a total of 10,025 vehicle movements. Out of these, 44 instances were flagged for potential violations, leading to the identification of five actual infractions, including four cases of seatbelt non-compliance and one speeding violation.
At the Phạm Văn Bạch - Hoàng Quán Chi intersection, the cameras detected 106 violations, which included 69 motorcyclists not wearing helmets, 34 instances of running red lights, and three cases of wrong-way driving.
In addition to the AI camera system, the Traffic Police Department has been receiving numerous reports from the public via platforms like Facebook, Zalo, and the VNeTraffic app. Many of these reports involve dangerous behaviors such as riding motorcycles on one wheel, running red lights, driving against traffic, and failing to adhere to road signs and lane markings.
The Traffic Police Department emphasizes that each traffic violation poses a significant risk of accidents. They urge all road users to be more aware of traffic laws, obey signals, maintain proper lane discipline, and always wear helmets and seatbelts to protect themselves and others.
The integration of AI technology with public reporting is enhancing the effectiveness of traffic law enforcement, contributing to the development of a safe and civilized traffic culture in Hanoi.
