Not many Vietnamese job seekers look for a salary of $1000 monthly

The data has just been released by the Center for Forecasting Manpower Demand and Labor Market (Falmi), under the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Ho Chi Minh City, when it surveyed 42,800 businesses and 76,022 employees in 6 months in the begin of the year.
Economic difficulties lead to lower wage expectations of workers. In the past six months, many manufacturing factories have faced difficulties in orders, exports in the whole city have decreased, businesses have cut costs, and limited recruitment, especially positions with high salaries.
Specifically, nearly 67% of recruitment needs need qualifications from elementary to college, and less than 20% of positions need a university degree or higher. Meanwhile, the proportion of workers with a university degree accounts for nearly 85% of the total number of job seekers. It means it will be harder for qualified workers to find a job during this period.
The economy and orders are declining, and companies must calculate labor costs. Enterprises will limit high-paying positions, and the labor force in this segmented market needs to be recalculated.

In addition to expectations for employee salaries, Falmi's survey provides insights into the company's affordability. Therefore, 18.51% of the employment posts have a salary of more than 20 million VND, similar to the expected proportion of workers. Under the salary of 10-15 million VND, less than 25% of the positions need to be recruited, while 44.3% of the job seekers want this salary.
In addition, only 0.7% of job seekers earn less than 5 million VND monthly, but up to 15% of the market recruitment demand has paid this level. The positions required by the enterprise include sales, reception, and cashier.
During this stage, companies prioritize using seasonal workers to reduce costs. Workers should accept short-term jobs and wait for the market to recover. It is an opportunity to approach the company, learn from experience, and express themselves, waiting for businesses to recruit.
