HCMC needs 25,000 workers by year-end
HCMC – The Center of Forecasting Manpower Needs and Labor Market Information HCMC (FALMI) has estimated that
The demand for new employees will depend on different scenarios of the global economy next year, Do Thanh Van, deputy director of FALMI, said yesterday, December 7.
If the global economy slows down, export orders will be negatively affected. However, the city’s economy will continue to grow as domestic consumption is expected to offset the decline.
In this scenario, the demand for new laborers will reach 280,000-300,000 people.
If the global economy picks up, the number will be estimated at 300,000-320,000 people. Specifically, the city will need 79,000-87,000 new workers in the first quarter of next year.
According to FALMI’s analysis, the demand for laborers will be mainly in the trade-service sector, accounting for nearly 70% of the available jobs. Meanwhile, around 30% of the job vacancies will be in the construction and industry sectors.
In terms of qualifications, the demand for laborers holding a bachelor’s degree or higher will account for 38%.
Some 90% of the jobs on offer will belong to state-owned businesses.
The hiring forecasting for 2023 is based on the city’s economic growth, pandemic situation, and recruitment demand. FALMI forecasts that the number of workers employed next year will be 4.58-4.63 million people.
