After the basic moon cake is perfected by the hands of skilled chefs, it will come to the stage of gilding the cake.

The gold-plated steps for the moon cake are not too complicated but quite meticulous, requiring patience and ingenuity.
The chef at this hotel said that the 24k gold leaf is 10x10cm in size. To inlaid the edges of the cake, first cut the gold leaf in half.
The next step is to spread the gold leaves.
Lacing is the first stage of the process of gilding mooncakes. After the cake is baked at a temperature of 240 degrees Celsius, it must be cooled down.


Place the rim of the cake on the cut gold foil, roll until the entire rim is covered with 24k gold.
While gilding, must be very gentle because the gold leaf is very thin, to avoid the gold leaf being torn or flying away, and at the same time, so that the gold can adhere to the edge of the cake.
Next is the process of coating the cake with gold. This step will require 1-2 pieces of 24k gold 10x10cm in size.
The cake is placed in the center of the gold leaf, the chef will gently use his hand to adjust the gold leaf so that they stick to the surface of the cake.
After this step, the process of coating the moon cake with gold is completed.
The moon cake covered with gold is like the bright moon on a full moon night, filled with salty, sweet and full of flavor.
The chef of Dolce by Wyndham Hanoi Golden Lake Hotel said:  “The 24k gold-covered mooncakes are very welcome by the market. We have made these mooncakes very conscientiously” .
He also said that this year, the hotel will launch 6 flavors of moon cakes, including lotus seeds, red beans, tea, taro, five flavors and durian, each with its own special taste.
Currently, gold-plated mooncakes are sold by this hotel in pools of 4-6 cakes, priced from 1.18 to 6 million VND/box. In each box, there are 1 to 2 gold-plated cakes.
