Fish market meeting at 1 am along Bai Tu Long Bay

QUANG NINH – Over midnight, hundreds of small traders flock to Ben Do fish market to buy seafood from fishermen who have just landed.

Ben Do Fish Market, Cam Thuy Ward, Cam Pha City, located along Bai Tu Long Bay, is a seafood wholesale market, also one of the largest fish markets in Quang Ninh province. Every day there are hundreds of boats busy selling seafood.

Ben Do fish market started meeting at 1am and gradually consumed people from 8am.

From 1am to 4am, hundreds of small traders come to buy seafood from fishermen for sale at markets in the province. Others take it to the restaurant.

Every day, fishermen’s boats spread out to sea to catch seafood. At midnight and dawn, these boats dock to sell seafood so the seafood here is very fresh, all kinds of like: shrimp, crab, fish, crab …

Big live squids range in price from 300,000 VND to 350,000 VND per kg.

Fresh squid is grinded to make squid pies and then fried and sold at the market with prices ranging from VND 350,000 to VND 400,000 per kg depending on type.

The market is busiest at 4am to 6am, because at this time many people start to go to the market to buy seafood. Due to the large number of boats docking at the dock, to avoid congestion, many fishermen use small boats to carry seafood from large boats to the pier.

“My house is near here, so every day I like to eat seafood, I get up early to go to the market. Out as soon as possible, you will be able to choose large, fresh, and affordable shrimp and fish, ”said Ms. Mai, Cam Thuy ward.

At dawn, it is also the time when the children live on the boat and the raft is brought ashore by their parents to go to school. In the Ben Do fish market, there are about 10 young children living with their parents under boats and rafts.

A fisherman is weighing a batch of gourami fish to sell to small traders right at the boat. The grouper is priced from 70,000 to 100,000 VND / kg. It is very sweet and watery, and is favored by the miners.

A group of nearly 10 people have been working as rowing boats at the wharf for more than 10 years. “Each time of carrying passengers from the fishing wharf to the ships parked more than 100 meters from the shore, I take from 30 to 50,000 VND. The income is from 200,000 to 300,000 VND per day ”, said a boat owner.

The number of boats anchored is large, causing the area to be polluted, garbage floating everywhere.

After selling seafood at Ben Do fish market, hundreds of boats and boats are anchored here to rest and wait for a new day to go to sea. The fishermen here usually go out to sea every afternoon. Follow vnexpress
