Lawsuit Filed Against 13 Companies for Delayed Social Insurance Payments

The Hanoi Social Insurance Agency has taken legal action against 13 companies that have been late in paying social insurance contributions, which has significantly impacted the rights of more than 200,000 workers. The total amount owed by these companies is reported to be 54.6 billion VND, comprising both principal and interest.

On October 6, the agency revealed a list of 23,688 entities that are either late or have evaded social insurance payments, with debts reaching thousands of billions of VND. Among the companies listed, some of the largest debtors include Lilama3 Joint Stock Company, with over 49.9 billion VND owed, and others such as Cầu 12 Joint Stock Company and VINAXUKI, with debts of 29.8 billion VND and 27.2 billion VND, respectively.

As of September 2026, the total amount of delayed social insurance contributions, including interest, reached 1,846.8 billion VND. The failure to pay these contributions not only affects the financial stability of the social insurance fund but also directly impacts the workers' ability to claim benefits such as sick leave, maternity leave, and unemployment support.

Vu Duc Thuat, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Social Insurance Agency, highlighted the serious consequences for workers when companies delay or evade their social insurance obligations. Many workers only discover these issues when they attempt to claim benefits or change jobs, often finding that their contributions, which had been deducted from their salaries, were not properly submitted to the social insurance fund.

To combat this issue, the Hanoi Social Insurance Agency has implemented various measures, including public awareness campaigns to educate employers about their responsibilities and workers about their rights. The agency has also conducted inspections and established commitments with companies to rectify their outstanding debts.

In September 2026 alone, the agency inspected 307 units, resulting in the identification of 86.8 billion VND in delayed payments. They also uncovered instances of incorrect benefit claims, leading to the recovery of over 800 million VND from individuals who received benefits improperly.

With the ongoing collaboration with the local prosecutor's office, the agency aims to recover the owed amounts and protect the rights of workers. As of now, seven prosecutor's offices have decided to take legal action against the 13 companies, seeking to recover the total debt of 54.6 billion VND.
