On September 20, 2026, local authorities in Phong Nha commune, Quang Tri province, reported that a 10th-grade student, identified as N.G.H. (born in 2011), went missing after being swept away by water at Vuc Tro stream. The incident occurred around 2:30 PM when N.G.H. and two friends were gathering firewood in the area. While crossing the stream, the strong current unexpectedly swept N.G.H. away.
