A tragic incident occurred at a beach in Quang Ngai, where two women drowned while trying to rescue a five-year-old boy swept away by strong waves. The victims, 60-year-old Le Thi Cho and 65-year-old Bui Thi Tam, were at the beach with the child when the accident happened.
On the afternoon of July 12, the boy was pulled into the sea by large waves. In a heroic attempt to save him, both women entered the water but unfortunately succumbed to the treacherous conditions. Local authorities reported that their bodies were recovered over an hour later.
The incident took place near a wave barrier, where the sea was particularly rough due to recent storms and low-pressure systems affecting the region. The local government mobilized ten fishing boats and approximately 50 personnel to continue the search for the missing boy.
As of the morning of July 13, search efforts were ongoing, with local residents anxiously awaiting news. The area has seen increased turbulence in recent days, raising concerns about safety at the beach.
This incident echoes a previous near-drowning event on July 11, where three individuals from Hanoi were rescued at My A beach, highlighting the dangers posed by the unpredictable sea conditions in the region.
