On September 17, a shocking discovery was made in the Chẹt Sậy canal in Vinh Long when local fishermen found a pickup truck caught in their nets. The vehicle, which was submerged and covered in mud, contained human remains and personal identification documents.

The incident occurred around noon near the Phong Nẫm bridge, which spans the canal and connects Châu Thành and Giồng Trôm in the former Bến Tre province. The canal in this area is over 200 meters wide with deep, fast-flowing water. Near the site of the discovery, there are construction material warehouses and various boats docked.

Upon receiving reports from the fishermen, local authorities conducted a salvage operation and identified the truck as belonging to a company based in Ho Chi Minh City. The vehicle bore the license plate 51C-383.51 and showed significant damage, including a shattered windshield and a severely deformed body.

Inside the truck, investigators found several pieces of human bones along with personal belongings and identification documents belonging to a 45-year-old man from Nghĩa Hành, Quảng Ngãi province. The local authorities in Vinh Long are currently working to analyze the remains and determine the identity of the victim as well as the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A representative from the company that owns the pickup truck confirmed that they have been notified by the Vinh Long police and are cooperating with the investigation. The company specializes in construction materials and operates in several provinces in the Mekong Delta region.

This incident follows a report from late June when an individual believed to be an employee of the company posted on social media seeking information about the missing truck and driver, who had lost contact in the area.
