Hanoi's water drainage units have been mobilized to address the anticipated heavy rainfall on the night of September 16 and the morning of September 17. The authorities have set up operations at critical points, utilizing mobile pumps and machinery to ensure effective water drainage.

The Second Water Drainage Enterprise reported that teams were deployed starting at 3 AM and will maintain a 24-hour presence in key areas, including Khuat Duy Tien, Pham Van Dong, My Dinh 2, and other locations prone to flooding. In addition to the drainage personnel, construction teams have been activated to handle any arising situations on-site.

To enhance water drainage capabilities, various systems, including water collection points, are being inspected and cleaned to ensure they remain unobstructed. The water levels at several lakes have already exceeded their designed capacity due to the significant rainfall, with measurements indicating up to 199mm of rainfall in some areas.

As of 6 AM on September 17, the water levels in local rivers, including the To Lich and Nhue rivers, have risen significantly, prompting the operation of all available pumping stations to mitigate flooding risks. The authorities are also coordinating traffic management in areas experiencing water accumulation to ensure public safety.

Efforts to manage the situation include deploying nearly 20 personnel at the Fifth Water Drainage Enterprise, which has brought in mobile pumps capable of handling large volumes of water. These measures aim to increase the drainage capacity during heavy rainfall and prevent flooding in low-lying areas.

The situation remains dynamic, with continuous monitoring and adjustments being made in response to the rainfall patterns. The drainage teams are prepared to respond promptly to any flooding incidents, ensuring that traffic flow is maintained and assisting residents in affected areas.

With the forecast indicating ongoing rain, the water drainage units will continue to operate around the clock, ready to tackle any challenges that may arise due to the weather conditions.
