On September 15, 2026, in Hanoi, Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung met with King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua and Queen Suthida of Thailand, who were on a state visit to Vietnam from September 14 to 16, 2026. This visit is particularly meaningful as both countries commemorate the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations.

Prime Minister Le Minh Hung expressed his warm welcome to the King and Queen, highlighting the importance of this visit in strengthening the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Thailand. He noted that the two nations upgraded their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2025, which further emphasizes their commitment to collaboration.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister acknowledged the valuable sentiments that the Thai Royal Family has shown towards Vietnam over the years, including previous visits by the King when he was still the Crown Prince. King Maha Vajiralongkorn expressed his happiness to return to Vietnam for his first state visit as King, sharing his impressions of Vietnam's comprehensive development in recent years. He praised the close and cooperative relationship between the two countries at all levels.

The Prime Minister proposed that both sides maintain high-level exchanges and effectively implement the Action Program for the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and Thailand for the period 2026-2031, which was signed in May 2026. Both leaders discussed various areas of cooperation, including science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation, recognizing the potential for mutual support and development between their economies.
