The King and Queen of Thailand, Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua and his consort, participated in a state banquet in Vietnam on September 15, hosted by General Secretary and President Tô Lâm and his wife. This gathering marked a significant milestone as it celebrated the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Thailand.

During the banquet, Tô Lâm emphasized the close friendship and shared cultural heritage between the two countries. He expressed gratitude to the Thai royal family, government, and people for their support and kindness towards the Vietnamese community in Thailand, as well as for recognizing the historical connections to President Ho Chi Minh.

Both leaders acknowledged the continuous development of Vietnam-Thailand relations over the past half-century, highlighting the journey from initial diplomatic engagements to becoming Strategic Partners in 2013 and aiming for Comprehensive Strategic Partnership by 2025. Tô Lâm expressed hope for further substantial cooperation, suggesting that the success of one nation could lead to greater opportunities for the other.

In his response, King Maha Vajiralongkorn expressed happiness over the enduring close ties between the two nations, noting the importance of mutual visits and exchanges. He underscored that the ongoing relationship serves as a vital foundation for the friendship between Thailand and Vietnam, which is crucial for fostering cooperation across various sectors.
