In a recent press conference held on September 4, 2026, the children of the late composer Phu Quang shared details regarding the division of their father's estate, five years after his passing. According to the court's decision, Trinh Thi Anh Thu, Phu Quang's wife, will receive a land property valued at over 16.1 billion VND, while his three children will inherit rights to his musical works and associated royalties.

The court's ruling, documented in Decision No. 799/2026/DSST and its amendment No. 1297/2026/TB-TA, confirmed that Phu Quang's estate was divided based on a voluntary agreement among the parties involved, which included his wife and three children from previous relationships. Notably, Phu Quang and Trinh Thi Anh Thu did not have any children together.

The three children, Nguyen Trinh Huong (born 1975), Nguyen Giang Huong (born 1982), and Nguyen Phu Vuong (born 1990), will collectively receive the rights to 165 published musical works and 170 unpublished works, as confirmed by the Vietnam Center for Copyright Management (VCPMC). This includes all other works created by Phu Quang, whether published or unpublished.

As part of the inheritance agreement, the three children will also receive various personal items belonging to Phu Quang, including photographs, his guitar, and signature pens, to establish a family music heritage room. Nguyen Trinh Huong has been designated as the representative to manage these assets along with her siblings.

In terms of royalties, the total amount managed by VCPMC from the fourth quarter of 2021 to the first quarter of 2026 is approximately 1.08 billion VND. After deducting a temporary advance of 370 million VND already received by the children for funeral expenses, the remaining royalties amount to around 710 million VND, which will be equally distributed among the three children, giving each approximately 236 million VND.

This decision marks a significant moment in the legacy of Phu Quang, a composer renowned for his poignant songs about Hanoi, as his family navigates the distribution of his artistic and financial legacy.
