Northern Vietnam is preparing for its first cold front of the season, which is expected to arrive from September 9 to 11. The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has indicated that this cold air mass, moving from China, will lead to rain showers and thunderstorms across the region.

On September 8, the weather in Northern Vietnam will remain relatively stable with sunny days, and temperatures could reach as high as 35 degrees Celsius. However, as the cold front approaches, temperatures are anticipated to drop significantly, with highs expected to fall below 33 degrees Celsius and nighttime lows dipping below 25 degrees Celsius.

The cold front is expected to bring rain, with some areas experiencing moderate to heavy rainfall and thunderstorms from the evening of September 9 into the next day. This marks the first significant cold front of the 2026-2027 winter season, arriving approximately 3-5 days earlier than average.

In addition to the cold front, a tropical convergence zone is predicted to form over the East Sea, potentially developing into a tropical depression or even a storm by September 12-13. This could lead to widespread heavy rainfall in Central Vietnam from September 10 to 17, particularly if the tropical depression intensifies.

As for the weather forecast for September 8, Hanoi will see clouds with possible evening rain and thunderstorms, while temperatures will range from 26-28 degrees Celsius at night to 33-35 degrees Celsius during the day. Other regions, such as the Northwest and Northeast, will also experience similar weather patterns with varying temperatures.

Residents are advised to prepare for the changing weather conditions, which may include strong winds and thunderstorms, particularly in the Central Highlands and Southern regions where the southwest monsoon may intensify.
