Bến Lức - Long Thành Expressway Expected to Open in September
The Bến Lức - Long Thành Expressway is set to open fully in September, with most construction work

The Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway is on a fast track to completion, with officials aiming to open it to traffic by the end of September 2026. This expressway is vital for improving connectivity to the Long Thanh International Airport, which is set to begin commercial operations later this year.
Recent discussions among drivers in southern Vietnam have highlighted excitement over the Phuoc Khanh Bridge, a critical structure that connects Can Gio District in Ho Chi Minh City with Nhon Trach District in Dong Nai Province. The bridge has officially been completed and is now in the finishing stages, with drivers expressing relief at the prospect of reduced travel times.
According to Tran Van Hung, a long-haul truck driver, the completion of the Phuoc Khanh Bridge will significantly shorten the journey from the Mekong Delta to the Cai Mep - Thi Vai port and Dong Nai, alleviating the burden of traffic congestion on existing routes. He noted, "We have waited for years to see this bridge completed, and it will soon ease our travel woes."
The Phuoc Khanh Bridge is the most complex technical challenge and the final piece needed to complete the entire Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway. On September 5, Pham Minh Ha, Deputy Minister of Construction, praised the efforts of the Vietnam Expressway Development Investment Corporation (VEC) and contractors, noting that the project is now 99.3% complete.
Currently, the expressway spans 57.8 kilometers, with only two construction areas remaining to be finalized. The Deputy Minister emphasized the urgency of maintaining the pace of construction to ensure the expressway opens on schedule, which will not only meet the transportation needs of local residents but also relieve traffic on the overloaded Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway.
Moreover, the expressway will serve as a strategic transport corridor directly connecting to the Long Thanh International Airport. The completion of the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway has already shown significant benefits in previously opened sections, with reduced travel times and costs for both individuals and businesses.
As the project progresses, the comprehensive transport network leading to Long Thanh International Airport is expected to be ready by the end of this year, enhancing connectivity for the region. The combination of expanding the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway and the completion of the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway will create a modern and integrated transport system.
