Former President Donald Trump has declared his intention to spend between $400 million and $500 million from his political operation to bolster Republican candidates ahead of the November midterm elections. Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, Trump stated, "I think I have like close to a billion dollars in the super PAC, and I’m allocating probably four or $500 million. We’re going to spend a lot of money because we don’t want to lose our country." This announcement comes as Republicans in competitive House and Senate races have been anxiously awaiting financial support from Trump's political action committee, MAGA Inc.

As of July 31, MAGA Inc. reported having approximately $403.5 million in cash on hand, which is significantly less than the nearly billion dollars Trump claimed was available. The PAC has spent about $21 million since the beginning of 2025, including only $1.7 million on independent expenditures. Despite this, MAGA Inc.'s funding remains larger than that of any major party committee, according to the Associated Press.

Trump emphasized that he would personally decide where to direct the funds, focusing on Republican candidates he believes can win pivotal races. He remarked, "I’m going to spend whatever amount of money necessary to try and help us. This is my money that I control." However, it is important to note that the funds are not Trump's personal money; MAGA Inc. is classified as an unauthorized hybrid PAC, which means it cannot directly contribute to candidates but can finance independent spending.

Looking ahead, Trump mentioned that he anticipates retaining some funds after the midterms, which could be utilized for future political activities, including the 2028 elections. Federal rules allow MAGA Inc. to maintain its balance for future use, rather than requiring it to be fully spent in the current election cycle.

In addition to financial support, Trump is also planning to become more actively involved in campaigning for Republican candidates as the elections approach. He has expressed intentions to make numerous campaign stops and has already committed to visiting Alaska to support Senator Dan Sullivan.
