Labor Pay on National Holiday September 2
Workers who work on the National Holiday of September 2 will receive a minimum salary of 300% of their

The National Day holiday in Vietnam this year will see workers who work during the official holiday dates earning a minimum of 400% of their salary. According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, the holiday will last for five consecutive days, from Saturday, August 29 to Wednesday, September 2, 2026. The two main holiday dates are September 1 and September 2.
For workers not employed by state agencies or public units, employers can choose the official holiday date as September 2, with the second holiday either on September 1 or September 3. Many readers have inquired about which days during the National Day holiday workers will be entitled to a salary of at least 400%.
Lawyer Do Thi Kim Hien from Ho Chi Minh City Bar Association explained that under Article 112 of the 2019 Labor Code, workers are entitled to take two days off with full pay during the National Day holiday. Additionally, Article 98 specifies that workers who work overtime on holidays are entitled to at least 300% of their salary, not including the holiday pay (100%). Therefore, the total income for those working on the holiday will amount to 400% of their regular salary.
In practical terms, this means that workers who work during the daytime on the official holiday dates of September 1 and 2 will receive 400% of their salary. For those working night shifts on regular days, they will receive at least an additional 30% of their regular pay.
Importantly, if a worker works overtime during the night on a holiday, their salary will be calculated as follows: 300% (holiday overtime) + 30% (night shift) + 20% x 300% (daytime salary) = 390%. When adding the 100% holiday pay, the total earnings could reach at least 490% of a regular day's salary.
