Ninh Bình province has recently taken a significant step towards improving its infrastructure by approving the construction of a new road connecting Hoa Lư and Nam Định. The project, which has a total investment of 7.14 trillion VND (about $300 million), is designed to facilitate economic growth and enhance social connectivity in the region.

The road will span a total length of 39 kilometers and is classified as a category A transport project. It includes a special bridge over the Đáy River and aims to connect the administrative center of Ninh Bình with Nam Định, significantly improving inter-regional transportation within the Red River Delta.

This initiative is expected to open up new development spaces and serve as a catalyst for economic, ecological tourism, and trade services in the newly unified province. The road will also link various cultural and historical landmarks, enhancing the region's appeal as a spiritual tourism destination.

The project consists of the main route, a ring road, and several branches connecting to key sites, including the Trần Temple. The total investment does not cover independent components such as compensation, support, resettlement, and land clearance, which will be managed separately.

Funding for the project will come from both the central and provincial budgets, with the central government allocating approximately 1.2 trillion VND in its mid-term public investment plan for 2026-2030. The project is set to be implemented from 2026 to 2029, covering various districts and municipalities within Ninh Bình.

Additionally, the project will involve the construction of seven new bridges and 13 interchanges, along with a comprehensive road system to ensure efficient traffic flow and accessibility for residents. The provincial government has tasked the Investment Project Management Board No. 2 with overseeing the project's execution, ensuring compliance with investment management regulations.
