In a tragic incident in Dan Hai commune, Ha Tinh province, Vietnam, a lightning strike led to the death of one man and serious injuries to another. The event took place on August 20, when the two men, Tran Kim T. (born 1969) and Hoang Xuan T. (born 1970), were fishing in the area of Dong 10 dike amidst severe weather conditions.
As heavy rain and thunderstorm conditions developed, the men sought refuge in a tent they had set up in the rice field. Unfortunately, while they were taking shelter, a lightning strike hit the area, resulting in immediate and devastating consequences. Tran Kim T. was pronounced dead at the scene, while Hoang Xuan T. was thrown into the water and sustained severe injuries.
Local residents and authorities quickly responded to the situation, rushing Hoang Xuan T. to a hospital in Nghe An for urgent medical treatment due to his critical burns. The local government has expressed condolences and is providing support to the victim's family while coordinating with relevant agencies to address the aftermath of this unfortunate event.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by thunderstorms, particularly in rural areas where individuals may seek shelter in makeshift structures. Authorities continue to urge the public to remain cautious during severe weather conditions.
