Nuen Moto, a Vietnamese electric motorcycle manufacturer, has made headlines with its recent announcement to suspend the development of the Nuen N1-S, which was considered the first 'super' electric motorcycle in Vietnam. The company shared this news on its official social media channels, stating that it is in the process of refunding deposits to customers who had reserved the model.

The Nuen N1-S was initially unveiled in September 2024 and generated significant interest due to its impressive specifications compared to typical electric motorcycles available in Vietnam at that time. Priced between 180 to 220 million VND and limited to just 200 units, the N1-S was anticipated to be a game-changer in the high-performance electric motorcycle segment.

Originally, Nuen Moto planned to conduct test rides in early 2025 and deliver the bikes by the end of that year. However, the timeline was pushed back by a year before the official announcement of the project's suspension. Despite halting the N1-S project, Nuen Moto clarified that this does not mark the end of its operations; instead, the team will redirect its efforts towards a completely new project.

The N1-S was designed with an Urban Scrambler aesthetic and aimed at providing a premium sports experience rather than catering to the mass market. It featured a 24 kW electric motor (equivalent to 32 horsepower), delivering a torque of 190 Nm and a top speed of 130 km/h. Additionally, the motorcycle boasted an 8 kWh battery capable of covering up to 200 km on a single charge and offered fast charging capabilities, reaching 80% in just 40 minutes at a DC charging station.

The Founder's Edition of the N1-S was equipped with high-end components such as Ohlins suspension and Brembo brakes, along with modern technologies like ABS, cruise control, and smart connectivity features. The emergence of the N1-S was expected to open up the high-performance electric motorcycle segment in Vietnam, a market that had yet to be fully explored.

Currently, as electric motorcycles gain popularity and experience strong growth in Vietnam, demand for high-end electric models is beginning to form. Competitor VinFast has also announced plans to introduce a range of sports electric motorcycles, expected to match the performance of internal combustion engine bikes with a displacement of around 600cc, potentially launching in the second quarter of 2027.
