The intense heat wave affecting Northern Vietnam is expected to ease in the coming days. According to the Central Meteorological Center, the northern region will begin to experience a gradual reduction in high temperatures from August 14. However, the central region is likely to continue facing severe heat conditions.

As of August 11, areas including Northeast Vietnam, Lao Cai, and regions from Thanh Hoa to Da Nang have been experiencing extreme heat, with daily maximum temperatures reaching between 35-37 degrees Celsius, and some areas exceeding 39 degrees Celsius. Forecasts for August 12 indicate that Northern Vietnam (excluding Dien Bien and Lai Chau) will continue to see high temperatures, with some regions experiencing severe heat, with maximum temperatures again ranging from 35-37 degrees Celsius.

In addition to the heat, the Central Meteorological Center warns that the Central Highlands and southern regions may experience scattered thunderstorms and rain, with rainfall amounts ranging from 10-30mm, and isolated areas potentially receiving over 70mm of rain, particularly during the afternoon and evening hours. Thunderstorms may also bring strong winds, hail, and lightning.

Specific forecasts for August 12 include:

• Hanoi: Partly cloudy with occasional rain and thunderstorms at night; daytime temperatures will be hot, ranging from 27-29 degrees Celsius at night and 35-37 degrees Celsius during the day.
• Northwest Region: Partly cloudy with scattered rain and thunderstorms in the evening; daytime temperatures will be hot, ranging from 25-28 degrees Celsius at night and 35-37 degrees Celsius during the day.
• Northeast Region: Partly cloudy with occasional rain and thunderstorms; daytime temperatures will be hot, ranging from 25-28 degrees Celsius at night and 35-37 degrees Celsius during the day.
• Thanh Hoa to Hue: Partly cloudy with scattered rain and thunderstorms; daytime temperatures will be hot, ranging from 26-29 degrees Celsius at night and 35-37 degrees Celsius during the day.
• South Central Coast: Partly cloudy with scattered rain and thunderstorms; daytime temperatures will be hot, especially in the northern areas, ranging from 26-29 degrees Celsius at night and 32-35 degrees Celsius during the day.
• Central Highlands: Mostly cloudy with scattered rain and thunderstorms; daytime temperatures will be cooler, ranging from 20-23 degrees Celsius at night and 26-29 degrees Celsius during the day.
• Southern Region: Mostly cloudy with scattered rain and thunderstorms; daytime temperatures will range from 24-27 degrees Celsius at night and 32-35 degrees Celsius during the day.
