Central Vietnam is set to experience a severe heat wave over the next two days, with temperatures potentially soaring above 38 degrees Celsius in certain regions. According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, areas from southern Nghe An to Da Nang, as well as eastern provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak, will be particularly affected.

On July 19, regions from Thanh Hoa to Quang Tri already experienced intense heat, with cities like Hue and Da Nang reporting temperatures reaching up to 38.9 degrees Celsius. Other locations, such as Tam Ky in Quang Ngai, recorded even higher temperatures of 40.4 degrees Celsius. The forecast indicates that from July 20 to 21, temperatures will generally range between 35 to 37 degrees Celsius, with some areas exceeding 38 degrees Celsius.

The humidity levels are expected to drop to between 45% and 55%, which could exacerbate the heat conditions. The authorities have issued a warning about the risk of fire and explosion due to increased electricity consumption during this heat wave. Additionally, prolonged exposure to high temperatures may lead to dehydration and other health issues.

As the heat wave persists, residents are advised to take precautions, such as staying hydrated and minimizing outdoor activities during peak heat hours. The heat is expected to ease from July 22 onwards, bringing some relief to the affected areas.

Authorities have classified the risk level for heat-related disasters as level 1, indicating a need for vigilance and preparedness among the public.
