On August 6, a troubling incident occurred on the North-South Expressway in Dak Lak, where over 120 vehicles sustained tire damage after encountering sharp metal debris scattered across the road. The Traffic Police Department (CSGT) has urged affected vehicle owners to come forward with documentation to protect their rights and assist in the investigation.

The CSGT reported that between 12:30 AM and 12:00 PM on August 6, during routine patrols, officials discovered numerous sharp metal pieces on the roadway, posing a serious safety risk. Many drivers expressed frustration, suspecting the presence of 'nail thieves' responsible for the hazardous debris.

The incident forced multiple vehicles traveling at high speeds to experience tire punctures and even blowouts, requiring them to stop in emergency lanes. Preliminary statistics indicated that more than 120 cars were damaged. Rescue teams and road management authorities collected over 10 kg of scrap metal from various sections of the highway.

Upon receiving reports of the situation, the CSGT's Highway Patrol Team No. 5 collaborated with management units to review surveillance camera footage from major tunnels along the route. Their investigation traced the debris back to an orange truck, registered as 36H-188.xx, which was hauling industrial scrap and lost metal pieces on the highway.

By around 9:30 AM on the same day, authorities managed to stop the truck at the Nui Vung Tunnel area (between Cam Lam and Vinh Hao). The driver, identified as V.D.T, 36, from Yen Dinh, Thanh Hoa, was found to be responsible for the debris that caused the tire damages.

To safeguard the legal rights of affected individuals and ensure accountability, the CSGT has called on vehicle owners whose cars were damaged by the metal debris to promptly contact Highway Patrol Team No. 5. Required documentation includes the owner's name, phone number, vehicle registration, details of the incident, and evidence of damage such as repair bills and any relevant photographs or videos.
