On August 3, 2026, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Court officially announced the death sentence for Phạm Thị Diễm Nhi, born in 1994, in connection with a major drug trafficking case. Alongside her, several other defendants were also sentenced, including Đoàn Chí Hải and Phạm Văn Sơn, both born in 2000, as well as Trần Hải Dương, born in 1984.

The court determined that the actions of the defendants posed a significant danger to society, justifying the severe penalties imposed. During the trial, all defendants admitted their crimes and requested leniency in their sentences.

According to police reports, on July 5, 2024, law enforcement officers conducted a routine check on a vehicle driven by Lê Gia Tuấn, which raised suspicions. Upon inspecting the vehicle and extracting data from the phones of Tuấn and his passenger Phan Thành Lộc, authorities discovered numerous messages related to drug transactions with Nhi and Lê Đức Anh.

Subsequent searches of Nhi and Đức Anh's residences led to the seizure of over 7.5 kg of Methamphetamine, more than 5.3 kg of Ketamine, and various other drugs, along with a grenade, a firearm, and equipment used for drug packaging.

Nhi was identified as a participant in a drug trafficking network led by Nguyễn Đăng Niệm, operating primarily through a Telegram group named "Lên đơn." The group was known for packaging drugs in food items and electronic cigarette boxes to evade law enforcement.

On the same day of the vehicle inspection, the group received a large shipment of drugs intended for distribution. One of the defendants, Huỳnh Quốc Dũng, was found to have purchased nearly 50 grams of Ketamine and approximately 29 grams of Methamphetamine for resale.

The Ho Chi Minh City People's Court has stated that the investigation into this drug trafficking ring will continue, with further actions to be taken against those involved.
