Pham Thi Diem Nhi, a 1994-born resident of Ho Chi Minh City, has received the death penalty for her role in a significant drug trafficking operation. This sentencing was announced during a trial held by the People's Court of Ho Chi Minh City on August 3, 2026.

The court found Nhi guilty of illegally trading narcotics, alongside several co-defendants. Among them, Le Duc Anh, born in 2000, also received a death sentence, while another defendant, Nguyen Van Hung, born in 2003, was sentenced to life imprisonment. Other co-defendants received prison terms ranging from 7 to 12 years.

The court highlighted the severe nature of the crimes committed, noting that the defendants had confessed and requested leniency in their sentences. The case was initiated when police conducted a routine check on a motorcycle operated by Le Gia Tuan, who was carrying Phan Thanh Loc. The police discovered numerous messages on their phones indicating drug transactions with Nhi and Le Duc Anh.

Subsequent investigations led to a search of Nhi and Duc Anh's residence, where authorities seized over 7.5 kg of Methamphetamine, more than 5.3 kg of Ketamine, and various other narcotics, alongside weapons and drug packaging equipment. The group was reportedly part of a larger drug distribution network led by Nguyen Dang Niem, who remains a fugitive.

This case is part of a broader crackdown on drug-related crimes in Vietnam, where the government has been intensifying its efforts to combat the illegal drug trade. The court's decision reflects the serious stance taken against drug trafficking, particularly given the increasing scale and danger posed by such activities.
