Heroic Good Samaritan Confronts Gunman in Idaho Shooting

A tragic shooting incident occurred outside an In-N-Out Burger in Twin Falls, Idaho, resulting in the deaths of three individuals and injuries to seven others. The shooter, identified as 24-year-old Chad Williams, reportedly died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after being confronted by a private citizen and an off-duty police officer.

Jordan Salinas, 35, was at the scene and witnessed the suspect aiming a rifle at passing vehicles. In an interview with ABC News, Salinas described how he spotted Williams aiming the weapon, stating, "I peeked around the right-hand side of that sign closest to the road, and that's when I saw the individual with his rifle pointed at the vehicles." He noted that the shooter appeared calm until shots were fired in his direction, at which point his demeanor changed drastically.

According to Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks, Salinas and the off-duty Idaho State Police trooper's actions were instrumental in driving the suspect from the scene, potentially preventing further casualties. Hicks remarked during a press conference, "We believe these actions drove the suspect from the scene and prevented further casualties."

The shooting took place on a Saturday afternoon, with police responding to reports of gunfire around 2:29 PM. Emergency dispatchers could hear screams and gunfire in the background of calls, indicating the chaos of the situation. The restaurant is located near a busy shopping area, where hundreds of people could have been at risk during the incident.

As of Sunday, five of the injured victims remained hospitalized, with two in critical condition. The motive behind the shooting is still under investigation, and authorities have stated that Williams acted alone. His family is cooperating with the ongoing investigation, which is being assisted by the FBI.

Lynsi Snyder, the president of In-N-Out Burger, expressed her condolences, revealing that one of the company's employees was among those killed. She stated, "In-N-Out will be mourning with the families and praying for them as they tread through a very painful season." The community is now left to grapple with the aftermath of this tragic event, and police continue to seek any additional information or video footage from witnesses.
