The Vietnamese government has taken a significant step by approving the proposal to establish Bac Ninh as a city, as outlined in Resolution No. 205/NQ-CP dated August 1. This initiative, proposed by the Ministry of Home Affairs, aims to transform Bac Ninh into a modern urban area characterized by green spaces, advanced technology, and a rich cultural identity.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has been tasked with leading the project, ensuring that all feedback from government members is incorporated into the final proposal and draft resolution for the National Assembly. The ministry is responsible for preparing comprehensive documentation to be submitted to the National Assembly and its Standing Committee, ensuring that all quality and deadline requirements are met.

Bac Ninh province has already initiated a plan to establish the city based on its administrative boundaries. The proposal emphasizes the creation of a smart, modern city that focuses on economic development while protecting the ecological environment. The plan highlights the importance of scientific innovation and digital transformation as key drivers of growth.

Additionally, Bac Ninh aims to develop high-tech industries, particularly in semiconductor production and artificial intelligence. The province is strategically located as a gateway to northern Hanoi, making it a central hub in the economic triangle of Hanoi, Hai Phong, and Quang Ninh. This location provides favorable conditions for the growth of high-tech industries, logistics, and domestic and international trade connections.

Bac Ninh covers an area of 4,713.75 square kilometers and has a population of nearly 4 million, with 99 administrative units. The government's decision to recognize Bac Ninh as a first-class provincial administrative unit further solidifies its status and potential for development.
