The People's Council of Hưng Yên province has recently passed Resolution No. 52/NQ-HĐND, which supports the establishment of 36 new urban districts within the province by the year 2026. This decision marks a significant step towards improving local governance and urban management.

According to the resolution, the proposed urban districts will be formed without altering the existing administrative boundaries, natural area, or population scale of the current 36 communes. The districts set to be established include Nghĩa Trụ, Phụng Công, Văn Giang, Mễ Sở, Kim Động, Nguyễn Văn Linh, Việt Tiến, Yên Mỹ, Văn Lâm, Ân Thi, Hoàng Hoa Thám, Khoái Châu, Thái Thụy, Hưng Hà, Long Hưng, Tiền Hải, Kiến Xương, Quỳnh Phụ, Hưng Phú, Đông Hưng, Vũ Thư, Vũ Quý, Phụ Dực, Tiên Lữ, Lạc Đạo, Tân Hưng, Thái Ninh, Tiên Tiến, Nghĩa Dân, Phù Cừ, Việt Yên, Hoàn Long, Nguyễn Trãi, Xuân Trúc, Châu Ninh, and Triệu Việt Vương.

Among these, Văn Lâm will be established based on the existing Như Quỳnh commune, which has a natural area of 27.32 square kilometers and a population of 86,559, making it the largest in terms of population among the new districts. Other notable districts include Yên Mỹ, with an area of 33.11 square kilometers and a population of 69,532, and Hưng Hà, covering 38.94 square kilometers with a population of 54,887.

The establishment of these urban districts is seen as a way to streamline local administration and improve service delivery to residents. The resolution also mandates the provincial People's Committee to implement the necessary legal procedures to formalize the establishment of these districts. Following this resolution, the committee will prepare the required documentation and proposals for the government and the National Assembly's Standing Committee for approval.
