Ukraine's military has confirmed a series of drone attacks on Russian infrastructure, specifically targeting an oil refinery and a strategic airbase in Saratov province. The strikes have reportedly caused substantial fires at both locations, highlighting the ongoing conflict between the two nations.

According to Ukraine's General Staff, the attacks were aimed at the Engels airbase and the Saratov oil refinery, which has a production capacity of approximately 7 million tons of oil annually. The Engels airbase is significant as it houses strategic bombers, including the Tu-160 and Tu-95MS, and is located about 700 kilometers from the front lines.

Roman Busargin, the governor of Saratov, reported that the UAV strikes resulted in two fatalities and damage to civilian infrastructure in both Saratov and Engels. Additionally, Ukrainian forces targeted an oil depot in the Kaluga region, further expanding their operational reach.

Social media videos have surfaced showing what appears to be a Ukrainian drone exploding in the air while attempting to strike the Engels base, with smoke rising from the ground in the vicinity. This incident is part of a broader trend of UAV attacks by Ukraine, which have increasingly focused on Russian supply chains and military logistics.

In a related development, Ukrainian UAVs also targeted a warehouse of Wildberries, often referred to as the 'Amazon of Russia,' in Novosemeykino, Samara, leading to a large fire that engulfed the facility. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that these warehouses are linked to supplying components for UAVs and other military equipment to Russian forces.

The governor of Samara, Vyacheslav Fedorishchev, announced that airspace in the region has been closed due to the UAV threat. Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that its air defense forces intercepted and destroyed 635 Ukrainian drones across various regions during the night.

This escalation follows a recent wave of Russian drone attacks on Ukraine, which included 133 UAVs, with 109 reportedly intercepted or jammed. The ongoing exchanges of long-range strikes have resulted in significant casualties and damage on both sides, with the conflict showing no signs of abating.
