Super Typhoon Dolphin is currently maintaining its maximum strength, classified as a Category 5 storm by the Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC). As of July 31, Dolphin has sustained wind speeds of approximately 205 km/h, with a central pressure of 910 hPa, marking 42 consecutive hours at this extreme level.

The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) confirms that the storm has recorded wind speeds reaching 260 km/h over a one-minute period, equivalent to a Category 5 super typhoon. Experts note that Dolphin has accumulated over 22 units of Accumulated Cyclone Energy (ACE), indicating the significant energy produced throughout its lifecycle. This index is calculated based on the maximum sustained wind speed of the storm over six-hour intervals and is commonly used to assess the strength and duration of tropical cyclones.

Satellite data from the GPM GMI shows that Dolphin may soon enter its third eyewall replacement cycle (ERC), a process where the old eyewall is gradually replaced by a new one, which can cause temporary fluctuations in intensity before the storm strengthens again.

Forecasts indicate that Dolphin will continue moving northwest for the next 72 hours under the influence of a subtropical high-pressure system to the northeast. Starting August 2, as a new subtropical high-pressure area forms over the Korean Peninsula, the storm is expected to gradually shift westward towards the Ryukyu Islands of Japan by approximately August 5.

Weather agencies are advising residents in Taiwan, the Ryukyu Islands, and coastal provinces of eastern China to closely monitor updates regarding Super Typhoon Dolphin. Meanwhile, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has warned that the super typhoon could enhance the southwest monsoon, leading to heavy rainfall in various regions of the Philippines.
