On July 27, 2026, General Secretary and President Tô Lâm convened a meeting with the Standing Committee of the Government Inspectorate's Party Committee at the headquarters of the Central Party. The meeting focused on two main topics: evaluating the organization and operations of the inspectorate after more than a year of restructuring, and refining a project aimed at strengthening the Party's leadership over inspection work to combat corruption, waste, and misconduct effectively.

During the meeting, Tô Lâm acknowledged the efforts of the Party Committee and leadership of the Government Inspectorate in overcoming challenges and implementing a new organizational model. He praised their significant achievements in identifying shortcomings in policies and management practices, which have led to recommendations for amendments to various regulations, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of state management and facilitating development.

Tô Lâm emphasized the need for a shift in the inspectorate's approach, moving from merely detecting violations to actively participating in institutional improvements and enhancing national governance quality. He outlined six guiding principles for the reform of inspection work:

• Ensuring direct and comprehensive leadership from the Party, upholding the Constitution and laws, and maintaining strict control over power.
• Prioritizing national interests, the people's benefits, discipline, and development as the highest goals.
• Shifting focus towards prevention, early warning, and risk control.
• Using the results of corrective actions post-inspection as a measure of success.
• Aligning the organizational structure and authority of the inspectorate with the political system and local governments.
• Building a professional, modern, and integrity-driven inspectorate.

Additionally, Tô Lâm assigned seven key tasks for the inspectorate to implement promptly:

• Improving planning and organization of inspections with clear objectives and responsibilities.
• Shortening the time required for inspection conclusions while ensuring quality and accountability.
• Addressing outstanding conclusions and recommendations effectively.
• Enhancing accountability and cooperation with law enforcement agencies.
• Improving public engagement and complaint resolution processes.
• Implementing a comprehensive digital data platform for effective information management.
• Strengthening internal discipline and power control within the inspectorate.

This meeting marks a significant step towards modernizing the Government Inspectorate's operations and enhancing its role in governance and anti-corruption efforts.
