Recognition of Widowhood After Nearly 60 Years of Engagement
Nguyen Thi Le, 79, has been officially recognized as the wife of fallen soldier Huynh Van Quen, nearly 60

The remains of soldier Huỳnh Văn Quên have been found at Lê Thị Riêng Park, marking a significant moment for his family after nearly six decades of uncertainty. This discovery was confirmed by Major General Nguyễn Thành Trung, the Political Commissar of Ho Chi Minh City Command, during a live television program on July 26.
During the broadcast of the show 'Stars Illuminate the Path,' it was revealed that the death certificate received by Huỳnh Văn Quên's family during the war listed his name as Huỳnh Văn Quyên. However, the official certificate preserved by the family bore the name Huỳnh Văn Quên, which matched the name found with the remains.
Major General Trung stated, "With utmost caution, the authorities conducted thorough verification and cross-examination of records. Today, we are pleased to announce that the death certificate received by the family indeed belongs to Huỳnh Văn Quên. This means that he has returned to his family." This emotional announcement was met with tears of joy from the audience.
The family of Huỳnh Văn Quên received a collection of personal items belonging to the soldier, which included a pen, a comb, a wallet, and a bottle of medicated oil. His brother, Huỳnh Văn Nhỏ, expressed deep gratitude for the efforts of the 500-day campaign to search for and identify the remains of soldiers, stating that this initiative allowed them to finally locate their brother after nearly 60 years.
Huỳnh Văn Quên's wife, Nguyễn Thị Lệ, was also present at the event and was overwhelmed with emotion, unable to find the words to express her feelings. The remains were discovered during the early stages of the search operation initiated by the Ho Chi Minh City Command on July 6.
Upon the announcement of the discovery, a family from Vàm Cỏ, Tây Ninh Province, claimed the remains belonged to their relative. Authorities are currently working to clarify some discrepancies, as the family presented two documents: one naming Huỳnh Văn Quên and the other listing Huỳnh Văn Quyên. Major General Trung emphasized the need for further verification to ensure legal accuracy and avoid any mistakes.
