FIFA Removes Trump from World Cup Champions Photo

FIFA has made headlines by removing former President Donald Trump from the official photo celebrating the 2026 World Cup champions, Spain. The incident occurred during the trophy presentation on July 19, where Trump stood alongside FIFA President Gianni Infantino as they awarded the trophy to the Spanish team.

After the presentation, Trump lingered at the podium, seemingly wanting to be part of the celebratory moment with the team. Despite attempts from Spain's captain, Rodri, to signal Trump to step aside, the former president remained in the frame as the team lifted the trophy. Infantino had to remind Trump to allow the players to take center stage, but he was still visible in the celebratory shots.

However, when FIFA shared the congratulatory image on their social media platform X, Trump's figure was notably absent. The edited photo showcased the Spanish team celebrating their victory without the former president. Interestingly, Spain's coach, Luis de la Fuente, was also cropped out of the FIFA image, although he appeared in a version shared by the Spanish national team's account.

The Spanish Football Federation also opted for a photo that did not include Trump, taken shortly after he left the stage with Infantino. Following their victory, the Spanish team celebrated with King Felipe VI of Spain and his family, who welcomed the players in Madrid before a bus parade through the capital.

This is not the first time Trump has been at the center of a photo controversy. Last summer, he drew attention when he stood prominently next to Chelsea's captain, Reece James, during the FIFA Club World Cup trophy presentation.
