On the morning of July 19, 2026, a significant number of citizens visited Mai Dich Cemetery in Hanoi to light incense and honor the memory of former General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng, commemorating the second anniversary of his death. This gathering was a heartfelt expression of respect and gratitude towards a leader who dedicated his life to the country.
As early as dawn, people from various regions arrived at the cemetery, bringing flowers and incense to pay tribute at the grave of Nguyễn Phú Trọng. Many attendees expressed their sorrow and admiration for the late leader, who was recognized for his unwavering commitment to the Party, the nation, and the people.
Among the visitors were families with children, young people, and representatives from various organizations, all coming together to remember and honor Nguyễn Phú Trọng. Attendees quietly bowed their heads at his grave, conveying their appreciation for a steadfast leader who devoted his life to the revolutionary ideals and the defense of the homeland.
One attendee, Đặng Thị Nguyệt from Thanh Oai, shared her emotional experience: "When Mr. Nguyễn Phú Trọng passed away, I was unable to attend his funeral due to being hospitalized after an accident. I could only silently follow the news of his funeral on TV. Today, on the exact second anniversary of his death, I finally have the opportunity to come and light incense, expressing my respect and gratitude for him."
As the day progressed, despite the heat, the flow of visitors continued to honor Nguyễn Phú Trọng, reflecting the deep respect and admiration he garnered during his lifetime. Many took the time to tidy up and beautify his grave before performing the incense lighting ceremony.
In addition to commemorating Nguyễn Phú Trọng, attendees also paid respects to other former leaders and martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the peace and independence of the nation.
