Journey to Remember Heroes in Central Vietnam

The journey to Central Vietnam, organized by the Justice Newspaper, took place from July 10 to 12, 2026, as a tribute to the heroes who sacrificed their lives for the nation's independence. This annual event is held in July, a month dedicated to remembrance and gratitude, where people visit historical sites to honor the fallen soldiers.

Led by Trần Đức Vinh, the Editor-in-Chief of the Justice Newspaper, the delegation first visited the Quang Tri Citadel, a site that witnessed 81 days and nights of fierce fighting during the summer of 1972. As the group arrived, a sudden summer rain added a solemn atmosphere to the historic site. Members of the delegation silently laid flowers and lit incense in memory of the heroes.

During the visit, a young tour guide recounted the poignant history of the citadel, highlighting the bravery of the soldiers who fought valiantly to protect their homeland. From June 28 to September 16, 1972, this location was the scene of one of the most brutal battles in the history of the Vietnam People's Army, with thousands of soldiers sacrificing their lives for the nation's independence and territorial integrity.

After paying respects at the Quang Tri Citadel, the delegation moved on to the National Cemetery of Road 9, where over 10,000 fallen soldiers rest. Each member bowed their heads in remembrance, offering flowers and incense as a sign of gratitude for the sacrifices made for national unity.

The group then visited the National Cemetery of Truong Son, where more than 10,000 soldiers, including military transport personnel and youth volunteers, are buried. The serene environment of the cemetery served as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made along the legendary Ho Chi Minh Trail.

Trần Đức Vinh emphasized that this journey not only serves as an annual tribute but also as a return to the roots of history, fostering a deeper understanding of peace and instilling a sense of patriotism among the participants. The delegation also plans to visit other historical sites, including the Hang Tam Co Historical Site and the memorial of General Võ Nguyên Giáp, further honoring the legacy of those who fought for Vietnam's freedom.
