Ukraine Prepares for New Mobilization Amid Ongoing Russian Offensive

Ukraine is preparing for a significant mobilization effort set to begin in August, while Russia maintains its slow but steady offensive in the Donetsk area. President Vladimir Putin has reiterated Russia's determination to push forward in Eastern Ukraine, stating that the country is developing its economy, modernizing its armed forces, and achieving new results in the defense industry.

On July 13, Putin visited military logistics preparations and received reports from armed forces command, indicating ongoing military operations. Reports suggest that the Russian military is conducting a large-scale offensive aimed at encircling and isolating the village of Dobropillia in the Donetsk region.

Military journalist Yevgeny Poddubny noted that Russian forces have breached three fortified defensive lines previously considered impregnable by Ukrainian forces. Alexander Sladkov, another military reporter, highlighted that attacks on Odessa’s ports are part of a strategy to cut off Ukraine’s logistical support from the West.

Recent explosions have been reported in the Odessa region, although specific targets remain unclear. In Donetsk, regional leader Denis Pushilin announced that Russian troops have repelled Ukrainian counterattacks in the area. Ukrainian forces attempted to counterattack near the village of Prishib but were halted by Russian units.

Furthermore, President Volodymyr Zelensky has submitted a draft law to the parliament to extend martial law and military mobilization for another 90 days, emphasizing that the conflict with Russia will not conclude until Ukraine receives effective security guarantees.

Former Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has claimed that the ongoing conflict has cost Ukraine nearly a generation, with reports indicating that around 2.4 million Ukrainians have died since the start of hostilities, a figure that reflects a significant demographic impact.

In the past 24 hours, the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported 257 clashes on the front lines, with Russian forces intensifying their attacks in various directions. The total estimated Russian military losses since February 24, 2022, have surpassed 1.4 million personnel, alongside significant equipment losses.
