Russian President Vladimir Putin revealed that over 1,000 types of new weapons have been tested in combat conditions in the past year. Speaking during a meeting with military university graduates on June 23, he noted significant advancements in various weaponry since the start of the special military operation in Ukraine.
Putin stated, "There has been a qualitative development of many types of weapons since the beginning of the special military operation. More than 1,000 types of weapons and military equipment have been tested in combat conditions last year, including drones with improved guidance systems and various types of ammunition, as well as multifunctional robotic vehicles and many other weapons."
He emphasized the importance of feedback between frontline soldiers and defense enterprises, which has led to the establishment of channels to collect data on the effectiveness of weapons and military equipment. This feedback is crucial for analyzing the evaluations of soldiers using these weapons on the battlefield.
Putin highlighted that all developments are based on domestic scientific and technological foundations, resulting from the work of scientists, designers, engineers, and workers, and are fully supported by necessary financial resources from a stable and sustainable Russian economy.
Defense Minister Andrey Belousov also spoke about the integration of advanced technologies into the armed forces. He noted, "Today, our armed forces are actively incorporating elements of artificial intelligence, robotic systems, and integrated control systems. Your task is not only to master these technologies but also to innovate their tactical applications in combat situations."
Belousov stressed the critical role of human involvement in this technological landscape, stating, "Behind every algorithm and machine, there is always a human being." He acknowledged the combat experiences of Russian forces in the ongoing conflict with Ukraine, which has lasted over four years.
Russia launched its special military operation in Ukraine in February 2022. Recently, officials from both Russia and Ukraine indicated that the conflict might be nearing its conclusion. Last month, Putin mentioned, "The situation on the battlefield is evolving in a way that allows us to say that the military operation in Ukraine is moving towards completion." He asserted that Russian forces are advancing daily.
Conversely, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and other officials have reported a slowdown in Russian advances on the ground, while Ukraine has intensified long-range attacks deep into Russian territory, primarily targeting the oil industry. Kyrylo Budanov, the chief of staff to the Ukrainian president, emphasized that ending the conflict with Russia as soon as possible is a direct directive from President Zelensky. He stated that halting hostilities before this winter is a feasible goal.
