Nguyen Xuan Hoang, a shop owner in Ninh Binh, has been charged for selling over 700 counterfeit luxury

A 27-year-old woman named Nguyen Thi Tuyet Nga has been charged by the police in Phu Tho province for selling counterfeit dietary supplements. She is accused of distributing a total of 198 fake products, which were marketed as legitimate health supplements.
The investigation began after local residents reported suspicious dietary supplements being sold in the market. Following these reports, law enforcement officials confirmed that since July 2023, Nga had been purchasing large quantities of these counterfeit products from social media platforms, specifically Facebook. The items were sold at prices significantly lower than those of genuine products, raising red flags about their authenticity.
Despite knowing that the products lacked legitimate ingredients and health benefits, Nga continued to promote and sell them as authentic supplements that could enhance male sexual performance. She offered these products at about one-third of the price of the genuine items to attract buyers.
After receiving numerous complaints from customers regarding the ineffectiveness of the products, Nga ceased her operations involving these counterfeit dietary supplements. Subsequent testing of the products revealed they were indeed fake and did not contain any of the claimed ingredients or benefits.
During the investigation, Nga admitted to her crimes, stating she had sold a total of 198 counterfeit dietary supplements, earning approximately 33 million VND in illicit profits. Authorities have emphasized that her actions not only violated consumer rights but also posed significant health risks to the public. Selling counterfeit dietary supplements for profit is a serious legal offense that requires strict enforcement to maintain economic order and protect the legitimate rights and interests of consumers.
