The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has issued a warning regarding severe weather conditions expected in the East Sea due to the influence of Super Typhoon Bavi. Although the typhoon is not projected to make landfall in the East Sea, its intensity will still affect the weather in the area over the coming days.
As of tonight, July 9, and into July 10, strong winds reaching levels of 6, with gusts of 7 to 8, are anticipated along the waters from Khanh Hoa to Vinh Long, and the southern region of the East Sea, including the Spratly Islands. The sea conditions are expected to be rough, with wave heights ranging from 2 to 3 meters.
Additionally, areas in the northern Gulf of Tonkin, as well as waters from Lam Dong to Ca Mau and from Ca Mau to An Giang, will experience scattered rain and thunderstorms. During these storms, there is a risk of tornadoes and strong gusts.
From the afternoon of July 10, winds in the eastern part of the North East Sea are expected to strengthen to level 6, with gusts reaching levels 7 to 8. The sea will remain rough, with waves rising to 2 to 4 meters.
On the night of July 10 and into July 11, the waters from Khanh Hoa to Ca Mau, as well as the central and southern parts of the East Sea (including the Spratly Islands), will experience southwest winds at level 6, gusting to levels 7 to 8, with waves reaching heights of 2 to 4 meters.
The eastern part of the North East Sea will see winds from the west to southwest at levels 6 to 7, with gusts up to levels 8 to 9, and waves could reach heights of 3 to 5 meters, indicating very rough sea conditions.
The western part of the North East Sea, including the Paracel Islands, will experience winds from the west to southwest at level 5, occasionally reaching level 6, with gusts of 7 to 8, and waves of 2 to 4 meters.
The meteorological agency has warned that the risk level for maritime disasters is at level 2. All vessels operating in these areas are at high risk of being affected by strong winds and large waves.
