Review Confirms 15 Students Scored Perfect in Math Exam

A recent review conducted by the local education department in Ha Tinh confirmed that 15 out of 22 students achieved a perfect score of 10 in the math exam. This news has generated significant buzz, especially considering that all remaining students scored 9 or higher.

Nguyen Hong Cuong, Deputy Director of the Ha Tinh Department of Education and Training, addressed the media on July 7, clarifying the situation. The exam took place at Ha Tinh Specialized High School, where 24 students were registered, including two exempted from the exam due to their achievements in mathematics and physics competitions.

Among the 22 students who participated, 19 were from Ha Tinh Specialized High School, while the others were from different institutions. The classroom included a high concentration of academically gifted students, with nine specializing in mathematics, four in chemistry, and five in biology, along with students specializing in physics, computer science, and English.

Cuong noted that the seating arrangement for the exam was generated entirely by the Ministry of Education and Training's software. He pointed out that while social media reports suggested that 16 students scored a perfect 10, the accurate figure is 15, with the remaining seven students scoring between 9 and 9.75.

He emphasized that the results reflect the true capabilities of the students and the quality of education provided by the school. Notably, 13 of the 15 students who scored 10 had previously won provincial or national academic awards.

Cuong also provided context for this year's exam results, highlighting that the number of perfect scores in math has significantly increased from 513 in 2025 to over 4,208 in 2026, indicating a growing trend in student performance. The 2025 exam was the first conducted under the new educational program, which posed challenges for both teachers and students. However, with a stable exam structure and improved preparation, the results of 2026 are seen as a true reflection of the educational quality in Ha Tinh.

Over the past five years, Ha Tinh has consistently ranked among the top ten provinces in Vietnam for average scores in the high school graduation exam, a testament to the effective educational strategies implemented by the local authorities.
